Dawnsire is a legendary spacecraft in the Edge.

Description

Dawnsire was built by the Sunstar Free Company.[1] It is a massive dreadnought powered by moxite. Dawnsire is needle-shaped and constructed to survive the firewall of a supervoid. Thus, it is immune to all but the strongest tidal weapons. It is escorted by the Candela, a shieldship with a proven history in battle. Every panel of the Dawnsire carries a cnidomine. The Dawnsire uses the Penrose process to charge its horizon javelin by firing the two Ignacio lasers at its prow — dubbed "Nacho" and "Nacha" by its crew — around the Sotheran supervoid, taking advantage of the supervoid's rotation to generate energy.

Dawnsire's bridge is decorated in gold.[1] It is a synodic sobor, a domed temple to the nearest star and its orbiting bodies. The bridge is lit and has no shadows, with some of its light piped via incaglas wires and lightpipes from outside. It's rumored that one can get a suntan on the Dawnsire's bridge. The edges of the dome are carved into half-domed nooks called exedra, where pods of tecnics and specialists work. All the data travels as patterned light called eikonostasis, and it converges at the command altar beneath the dome's center. It carries at least two basilicas along its spine and a bathhouse and sauna in its lower decks.

History

Dawnsire was deployed to the Sothera system with the shieldship Candela to reignite the supervoid.[1] While it charged its horizon javelin, a Monoist strike cadre attacked aboard three inevitors.[2] Though the invaders were defeated, Captain Slats allowed the Monoist Alpharael to escape.
