A planeswalker type is any subtype used for the further classification of planeswalker cards.
Description
Like creature types, they are not optional, with the sole exception of The Wanderer, and are most of the time more flavorful than mechanically important. Planeswalker types served a function similar to the legend rule, the planeswalker uniqueness rule, until that rule was removed as of Ixalan.
Each type is either the first, last, or sole name of the character. The card name also encapsulates the type, with three exceptions of The Royal Scions, Professor Onyx, and Grand Master of Flowers.
