Yotian soldiers were artifact creatures created for defense by Urza during the Brothers' War on Dominaria.
History
Yotian soldiers were created after the Fall of Kroog as a lighter, smaller version of the avenger, requiring far less time and material to build. Urza named them for Yotia, regretting failing to protect his people. Urza stationed Yotian soldiers at at his tower, as well as in Argive and Korlis as gifts for their allegiance. The Yotian soldiers had beetle-like armor and were highly responsive and quick on their feet, but not as sturdy as Tawnos' clay statues or as powerful as Urza's avengers. [1]
As part of his Conclave of Mages initiation test in 430 AR, Jodah faced off against an old Yotian Soldier. Although it was immune to his ball of light, he managed to depower it after a protracted struggle.[2]
In 3307 AR, there were Yotian soldiers on display in the Hall of Artifact Creatures at the Tolarian Academy. When K'rrik's Phyrexian forces invaded, Barrin activated them as part of the academy's defenses.[3]
In 4073, Gull discovered that a tribe of Yotian soldiers lived on Towser's tropical island. These Yotians had self-modified extensively, to the point where they strongly resembled actual ant-people.[4]
Yotian Soldiers were active even after the Phyrexian Invasion of Dominaria, as Allav Hask faced an entire batallion of refurbished Yotians for a month in c. 4250 AR.[5]

Trivia
- As the Yotian Soldier was conceived as a toy soldier, its name is the word "toy" backward, with "-ian" appended to the end.[6]
