From 4073 to 4077, Gull the Woodcutter led a crusade against wizards in the Domains. It is the subject of the Greensleeves Trilogy of novels.
Background
In 4073 AR, a mana vault containing the Stone Brain fell in the woods northwest of White Ridge.[1] Attracted by the object, wizards from across the Domains began converging on the village. A month later, the wizards Dacian and Towser held a duel that caused the destruction of the entire village. Many of the villagers were killed, and almost all remaining villagers decided to relocate elsewhere.[2] Following the massacre, Gull the Woodcutter, one of the survivors, pledged an oath to kill any wizard he met.[3]
Gull and his sister Greensleeves briefly joined the company of Towser, believing that he was not at fault for the destruction.[4] Soon after Towser recovered the mana vault, he revealed himself to be the cause of the destruction, transporting Gull away to a tropical island and kidnapping Greensleeves to attempt to steal her power as a nascent wizard.[5][6]
History
Gull spent his time on the island organizing the other victims of wizards' magic into a fighting force. He was summoned back to Towser by Lily, who, unbeknownst to herself, was also a wizard.[7] Towser had tied Greensleeves to an altar, and he was ready to kill her, when Kem changed sides, remembering how Gull had saved his life in the bog. At the same time, Greensleeves, who was also revealed to be a wizard, summoned Morven, Stiggur, the centaurs, Liko, and all the creatures of the woods who had befriended her to fight Towser's minions.[8] Still, Towser was a veteran wizard and could control his creatures better than Greensleeves. She resolved to use an earthquake, which destroyed the cliff they were on and plunged them into the sea.[9] Then Greensleeves put her hand in the sea and cast another spell - a tsunami. Towser escaped the great wave with his flight spell, and Gull, Greensleeves, and Stiggur escaped by taking refuge in a crack in the cliffside, while Morven, Kem, and most of Towser's entourage were swept away by the sea.[10] After the water had settled, they found that Lily, the centaurs, and Liko had survived. Gull and his friends vowed to form an army to fight Towser, who Gull now realized was the wizard who had killed his family, and all the evil wizards who saw people as mindless pawns.
The convoy traveled for nine months, picking up more followers and defeating two more wizards, before it was raided by the desert wizard Karli in early winter 4074.[11]
