The Bladewing brood from Dominaria is the line of Shivan Dragons that are descended from Rorix Bladewing.
History
The Bladewing brood were the only faction to oppose the Shivan Nation's formation.[1] The Bladewing brood perceive themselves as the rightful heirs to Shiv's draconic leadership and find the idea of equality of races repulsive.
After Teferi phased out a large chunk of Shiv, some Shivan dragons journeyed away to seek any opportunity to restore the broken pride of their race. Rorix Bladewing, the champion of Shiv, was one of them. A serpentine dragon with knife-like wings that could fly very quickly, Rorix became a pit-fighter in Otaria.[2] He fought and died in the Grand Coliseum, but after his death, he was reanimated as Bladewing the Risen.[3]
The undead Rorix has terrorized the skies of Otaria for centuries. His descendants Verix and Karox mourn his pitiful existence and are prepared to take down their undead ancestor for good.[4]
Tarox Bladewing is a descendant of Rorix Bladewing, and the son of Verix and Karox Bladewing. A fierce, vicious dragon prone to outbursts of extravagant rage, he is known to have hunted and devoured the other, weaker dragons of his brood.[5] The pride of his xenophobic blood, he secretly hopes to seize control of Darigaaz's dragon nation.[6]

Trivia
- Rorix’s first name comes from the word "roar." R&D wanted something different than the tall, beefy dragons they normally did, so they asked for a serpentine dragon with knife-like wings to match the last name "Bladewing".[2]
