Purraj (pur-rahj[1]) of Urborg was the leader of many of Urborg's panther warriors, during the Mirage War of Dominaria.

History

Purraj was the main ally of the Urborg mage Kaervek. A cold-hearted, quiet killer, Purraj spoke often of the "Song of Blood", the name she had given to the murderous rampage that suited her bloody tastes. She sacrificed her soul to the dark spirits of Urborg and thus nothing touched her except the pleasure of slaughter. Although Purraj viewed herself as a leader of her kind, many cat warriors only followed Purraj out of fear.[2]

Kaervek could not manage to seize control of a kingdom in the heavily contested Burning Isles, and when he sensed a massive energy surge from the Chaza Isles he journeyed there to see if it could help him overthrow the more powerful lords of his homeland. He did not find anything of use but decided to relocate his efforts to Jamuraa, where he manipulated the mage Jolrael into starting a war with him. During this war, Purraj helped oversee an infiltration of both the Mwonvuli and Uktabi jungles.

She later supervised the invasion of Femeref and Zhalfir and was a guardian of the Amber Prison in which Kaervek had imprisoned his nemesis Mangara at the ending weeks of the war.

It was during this time that the skyship Weatherlight, carrying Asmira, Rashida Scalebane, and the "Scalebane's Elite" group, reached Jolrael's palaces and began an assault of the Amber Prison.[3] Purraj and a variety of foul creatures fought to stop them. Asmira could not easily break the relic ward placed upon the prison. Rashida, realizing her troops were losing and trying to buy time for Asmira, donned a dragon mask that imbued her with superhuman strength and speed. She was able to strike down Kaervek's forces in a dizzying attack before falling to the ground stunned, horrified at what she had done to succeed. Purraj was the sole survivor and leapt at Asmira, delivering lethal blows. Despite this, Asmira managed to complete the ritual with her final words. Her sacrifice was accompanied by a blinding shaft of light that shattered the prison, freeing Mangara.[3]

Although Purraj disappeared in the flash of light that was produced, her body was never found.[4] Forena, one of the Scalebane's Elite, felt certain that Purraj was dead, as both Asmira and Purraj had vanished completely when Mangara was freed from the amber prison.[5]
