The Frost Marsh was a wetland in northern Terisiare, at the time of the Ice Age on Dominaria.
History
As Ronom Lake dried up, its waters no longer fed by meltwater from the growing Ronom Glacier, the land around it turned into a swamp. Where once there were expanses of white beach now only leprous gray moss flourished, and the lake itself was little more than wide expanses of stagnant, oily water broken by pungent algae blooms in greasy shades of green and red.[1]
The Frost Marsh formed near the base of the dark keep of Tresserhorn, a fortress of the necromancer Lim-Dûl. It was a soggy, blackened swamp, dead trees erupting from the mire-like skeletal hands.[2]
The site of many battles during the Ice Age, each one a bloody scene quickly whitened by a thick layer of snow, the marsh became a multitiered graveyard of enraged souls and fallen warriors and was used by Lim-Dûl to incubate his undead followers.[3] For this, the region also became known as the Lake of the Dead. Near the end of the Ice Age, Lim-Dûl called a battalion of undead from the lake, sending it to attack Kjeldor.[2]
After the Thaw, the Flooding of Terisiare covered the marsh with rising seawater, and it was eventually completely submerged by the newly formed Sea of Laments.
