Species Cat Warriors

The Khyyiani is one of the four tribes of cat warriors that inhabit oases in the Sukurvian Desert.

Description

The land

The region of the Khyyiani is full of streams and hills dotted with tea trees tangled with vines, and a solid green carpet that limits sight a few meters. The Khyyiani jungle is so thick that lizards and birds can barely get through. The paths are more like green tunnels through the thick vegetation. Their land is considered the most sacred of all the tribes, although the Khyyiani's oasis is small, barely thirty miles long, dusty, and moss-colored like lichen. Their land is a four days walk northeast of Efrava.[1]

The people

Unlike the tiger-like Efravans, the Khyyiani are closer in appearance to cheetahs and have a strong warrior culture, being referred to as "battle-mad" by the Efravans. According to the Efravans, the Khyyani are also cruel, loving to torture captives with lingering deaths. Also unlike the Efravans, they have brown eyes rather than amber-green, and they paint their faces in a big red splash as if they've just fed on a kill. They also crop their ears and tie them to their heads, adding to the feral look.[1]

As the only tribe of Sukurvia, the Khyyiani worship Lord Windgrace. They also possibly worship Terrent Amese. They are the only tribe to not participate in the traditional exchange of cubs, which led to their scrawny look, and their numbers dwindling due to inbreeding. The Khyyiani, a suspicious and sneaky people, avoid common or council huts that might attract enemies, instead living in caves and sheds.[1]

History

Like all other tribes of cat warriors from the Sukurvian Desert, the Khyyiani are descendants of the original tribe, which according to myth was created by Terrent Amese to guard the Dark Heart of the Wood.

In 3336 AR, Jedit Ojanen came to the Khyyiani oasis in an attempt to recruit them to the joint cause of defeating Johan and his incoming airship army, but they vehemently refused, with their representative clawing and hissing until she was released.[1]

The Khyyiani still existed a few centuries later, as witnessed by Kyyrao Grrenmw, a Khyyiani who made it to northern Aerona.[2][3]
