Hasal is an older Bloodbraid elf and Cylian godtracker from Naya on the plane of Alara. Together with Elishta and Maklo, they met Domri Rade the very first time he ever planeswalked.

History

In his youth, Hasal had fun hunting in the Rip, a dangerous place on Naya.

Many years later, while running from a gargantuan beast, Hasal, Elishta, and Maklo heard a loud and careless yell nearby. They ran past Domri Rade, freshly planeswalked for the first time, and all of them called him an idiot, while Elishta told him to run. As tree trunks and roots groaned and snapped, the four ran ahead through the endless sea of ferns and leaves. As Domri ran past a wall of vines, one of the elves grabbed him and pulled him into a dark cave until the gargantuan had passed them by.

Later, the three elves sat and looked at this bedraggled boy, covered in dirt, ash, and ochre symbols of some strange tribe unknown to them, babbling about crossing a great void from another realm. Hasal, being the eldest, talked to the stranger while the two younger elves watched him curiously from a distance. While Maklo and Hasal thought Domri mad, Elishta wondered if perhaps Cylia sent him to help track the gargantuans.

Hasal quietly asked questions of the boy, trying to make sense of his outlandish claims, but the more questions he asked, the more Domri came out with wild details of a world he called Ravnica, an entire world made of buildings. He talked of the guilds, the Rubblebelt, and the goal of the Gruul to restore it to its natural wonder. Then, while imagining the Rubblebelt in detail, Domri accidentally planeswalked away again. Hasal called his name, but it was too late, and Domri was gone. This made the trio of elves some of the very first beings to witness a planeswalk and become aware of planes outside of their own.
