Prophecy

Greel was a humanoid horror in league with the Keldons during the Keldon Invasion of Jamuraa on Dominaria.[1]

History

Greel masqueraded as a Keldon, and fed off the life force of others. This caused him to rapidly grow, changing from a young boy to an adult in a matter of weeks. He served as a familiar for the bog witch Erissa and the artificer Doyenne Latulla to aid in their spellcasting. As the Phyrexian plague spread on Jamuraa, Rayne pinpointed the origin of the plague to Greel. She tried to kill him, ripping his guts up, but he was unphased. When Rayne was knocked off her artifact steed, Greel killed her. He was found by Barrin, husband of Rayne, soon after. Incensed, Barrin cast a cascade of magical sparks onto Greel, and the sparks spread through his body, killing the horror by dissolving him rapidly from within.[1]

Origin

Between Greel's Keldon appearance, him being the originator of the Phyrexian plague in Jamuraa, and his close association with the bog witch Erissa, Greel's precise origins are uncertain. It is clear he was in league with the Phyrexians, however, as his body was revealed to be partially compleated when Rayne wounded him.
