The Fountain of Youth was an artifact that imbued immortality to those who drank it.

History

The Fountain of Youth was situated in the middle of the city square of Pitdown, though none save the pigeons knew its secret.[1]. The fountain had lions' head statues that poured the water into the basin and had once held a grand look, but it was poorly tended, and the waters were covered with dirt, algae, and various weeds. During the Battle of Pitdown, Jodah happened upon the fountain as he was seeking refuge from the fighting. He had to hide beneath the waters to avoid being seen by a band of goblin raiders, and accidentally swallowed some of the disgusting water. While he did notice that his leg wound had healed afterward, he did not ascribe this to the fountain at the time.[2] It was only years later, when he realized he was not aging like others were, that he understood what had happened.
