Foulmere is a swamp somewhere in Dominaria, situated on the delta of the Kron Lu River.[1]
History
Foulmere used to be a vibrant, lush marsh full of flora and fauna. It was the home of the tiny Eub Hlut people, 8-inch tall gnomes that possibly originated in Havenwood in Sarpadia. The Naturalist Peter Langwynd also came to live here as a hermit following his tenure as a university professor in Akkat. At a certain point, Peter was visited by the planeswalker Vram and her daughter Mao, who sought to learn more about the swamp. Peter was forced to take them on a tour, showing them Big Bog and the local Big Bog Frog, a huge amphibian. Vram tamed the beast and used it in a duel with another unnamed planeswalker. However, the duel turned disastrous as Vram overextended the land of the Foulmere, draining it completely of mana. Almost all life in the marsh died in a conflagration, leaving only a charred dead peat bog full of hostile undead. Peter, Mao, an Eub Hlut woman named Peft, and a misplaced dwarf Ingvik were the only apparent survivors of the battle. Vram and the other planeswalker had been cast away from the plane entirely and appeared unable to return. The Foulmere never recovered from this incident and remains a stinking black cesspool of shambling corpses.[1]
