Sylex Blast First Talite Crusade Siege of Penregon

The First Talite Crusade was a marching gathering of like-minded war veterans, militia, and civilians who started a campaign of liberation after the Sylex Blast and the end of the Brothers' War. The Church of Tal banded together with Raddic as its first leader, calling themselves warriors for humanity, crusaders against the mage, the unliving, and the machine demons.[1]

History

The first crusade of the Church began with a purge of the Gixian lands to the far north of Terisiare, emptying the Monastery of Gix which the Talites called a wretched temple of oil and machine. By this time, most of the Brotherhood of Gix had already left for Phyrexia through the portal in Koilos, so the Church met little resistance.[1]

The crusade then marched through the desert that was the old Fallaji Empire. The war had drafted almost all of its people, and most of these had perished on Argoth, so again, there was little resistance to be found against the Talites. By now, their numbers were being swelled by crowds of refugees and stray warriors. Zealots and fanatics against anything related to magic or artifice tended to end up in more important roles.[1][2]

The Talites then traveled through the ruins of Kroog, ridding it of any stray artifacts or remnants from either brother's machine armies. Having crossed the continent north to south, the crusade turned east, marching through Yotia and into Korlis. There, a "cruel machine overlord" had taken power, and the Talites liberated Korlis from this creature, recruiting many more to their cause. The Talites then headed north to Penregon, where they knew machines called civils operated in the streets. They had planted people inside its walls, who waited until the Talite army marched up to its gates. This led the way to the Siege of Penregon.[1][2]
