The Monastery of Gix was located in the far north of ancient Terisiare, east of Ronom Lake, at the time of the Brothers' War on Dominaria.[1]
History
The Monastery was built over an abyss[2] near Ronom Lake and became a home to the Brotherhood of Gix - a religious cult worshipping a machine god named Gix. In response to a dream, several of the monks from the monastery traveled to Koilos and activated the portal to Phyrexia.
After the war, between 64 and 69 AR of the Dark Age, the rising Church of Tal began the First Talite Crusade with a purge of the Gixian lands, emptying the wretched temple of oil and machine.[3] The monastery was abandoned, and the cult traveled to Phyrexia, having been turned into mechanical beings long before.
The ruins of the monastery were not long abandoned, as they were used as a starting point for the construction of the Conclave of Mages. The Founding the Conclave of Mages happened around 75 AR.
Centuries later, the abyss over which the monastery had been built became the pit over which Ith would be imprisoned in cage.[2]
After the Ice Age and the Thaw, the former Gixian lands were flooded by the Sea of Laments.
