Ephren (EE-fren)[1] is an area of enchanted plains on the Dominarian continent of Corondor.[2]
Description
Ephren lies far to the west on the continent of Corondor. Bordered to the north by the mountain range known as the Ten Summits, and to the south by the vast Krysalthus forest, the plains of Ephren run all the way to the western shores of Stonehaven. Ephren features the ruined Castle Melmereth, standing as a grim reminder of battles past.
History
First settled in the centuries after the Ice Age by the Sages of Minorad, Ephren’s stewardship eventually fell to House Carthalion. Rumors of odd sightings and bizarre encounters with the supernatural near the Ten Summits and over the plains began shortly after the birth of Jared Carthalion, and just before the death of his mother, the Lady Gwendolyn Carthalion. These chilling omens culminated with the Battle of Aster Fall, in which the Planeswalker Ravidel invaded and conquered Ephren, killing Jared's father, Adam Carthalion and his whole army. To this day, some say Adam's ghost haunts the plains of Ephren.[3]
Ephren was not done with conflict however. 15 years after Aster Fall, the Fall of Castle Melmereth happened when Jared returned to his ancestral lands and defeated Ravidel, driving him from his old home and severely hurting him in the process, though at the cost of the castle itself.
