Cometia is a lush crater oasis located on the island of Shiv.
History
Cometia was created long ago from the fall of a comet that impacted Shiv and made a large crater. In that crater, fertile soil and water sprang forth, nourished by minerals from the comet, creating abundant plantlife.[1]
At some point, a tribe of elves, druids, beasts, faeries, cat warriors, coyotes, and craw wurms moved into the crater, which also hosted dragons that were attracted to the forest life.[1]
Around 4100 AR, during the reign of Elf King Adamkin, an earthquake made a crack in the crater wall of Cometia, breaking their isolation from the outside world. This allowed the trio Strother, Borg, and Elam to use a Serpent Generator to ceaselessly attack the defenders of Cometia, causing many casualties. The Battle of the Breach was only stopped when the tiny twig dragon Snap entered the serpent generator and plugged it with serpent corpses, causing it to explode. The explosion triggered a small landslide that filled the crack to Cometia, and Snap, who had been flung clear from the generator in the explosion, was rewarded for his bravery.[1]
The cave complex inside the crater served as the staging grounds of the Second Phyrexian Invasion of Dominaria after they evacuated the Caves of Koilos.[2]
