The Battle of Kjeldor was an event that took place at the start of the Thaw between the undead hordes of Haakon of Tresserhorn and the defenders of Kjeldor with King Darien himself at the forefront.[1]

The story

An unnamed commander of an army of soldiers and Jötun giants defended the city of Kjeld and the nation of Kjeldor against the hordes of Heidar's Cult of Rimewind, consisting of zombies, orcs and Stromgald knights. The battle lasted for four days, and the losses were increasing every day. On the last day, King Darien joined the fight and defeated Haakon, the Stromgald general. This ends the battle, but it is only a reprieve in the war, as Heidar, the Rimewind Cult leader shows up armed with Phyrexian war machines reclaimed from the melting ice. [2]

As Heidar had begun to act treacherously against Garza Zol, the vampire queen had sent spies and assassins against her former co-conspirator. A force of elves from Yavimaya had been sent to contribute to the battle against Heidar, and used their nature magic to melt the frozen Phyrexian beasts, causing them to collapse. In desperation, Heidar started attacking both enemies and allies, finally giving Garza Zol a reason to have him assassinated, before retreating to Krov.[3]

With the help of the Yavimayan elves, Kjeldor survived the battle, and thus a bond was forged between Yavimaya and New Argive. The cold of the Rimewind Cult was beaten back, and the Thaw could continue to melt the glaciers of Terisiare, the Ice Age finally losing its very last hold on the world.[3]
