Aiman was a Fallaji soldier during the time of the Brothers' War.
Description
In 44 AR, Aiman was an old veteran soldier, distinguished by his age and experience. He had a low and soft voice, carrying the physical marks of a seasoned warrior, including a notable missing eye. Aiman's demeanor reflected his long tenure in the war; he was composed, perceptive, and carried himself with a certain weariness. He was physically frail yet mentally resilient, a figure of quiet authority among the soldiers. His experience and pragmatic outlook were evident in his cautious and thoughtful approach to the war and the younger soldiers around him.[1]
History
In 28 AR, Aiman was severely injured in the aftermath of the Fall of Kroog, where the city of Kroog was consumed by flames and chaos. With arrows lodged in his body and his face wounded, he lay amidst the carnage, surrounded by the dead and the stench of destruction. His fragmented memories of the battle included a golden knight, a terrifying war machine, and the overwhelming fear he felt as he charged up the riverbanks. Desperate for water and grappling with intense pain, Aiman lay in the alley, haunted by the ongoing conflict and the grim reality of his situation. In a delirious moment, he saw a ghostly figure, which he mistook for Death. The apparition, speaking with a strange accent, gave him a fleeting sense of hope that his end was not imminent.[2]
Two weeks later, Aiman's condition had improved. Though he had lost an eye, his wounds were healing, and the desert breeze and serene blue sky offered a stark contrast to the battlefield's horrors. While his war had ended, Aiman recognized that his life was just beginning anew, and the words of Death reminded him that his story was far from over.[2]
After his injury, Aiman spent a year serving in the supply corps, a less dangerous role due to his injury. Despite the toll the war took on him, Aiman was recalled to active duty for the Tomakul Campaign in 44 AR, this time to train new warriors. His return to the frontlines found him in the company of Farid, Karrak, and Ehsan, going across the battlefield to meet with a small group of Argivian soldiers. Despite the conflict surrounding them, Aiman's presence brought a sense of familiarity and camaraderie to the group. He and Farid shared a moment of peace amidst the chaos, where Aiman spoke fluently in Argivian and demonstrated that his experiences had not stripped him of his humanity. They received intelligence that the upcoming battle would be a brutal affair, with both sides suffering heavy losses, which could be avoided by letting the clay statues and transmogrants handle the battle for them. They decided to keep this information secret to avoid being branded as traitors.[1]
In the ensuing attack, the soldiers faced a grueling advance through muddy trenches and heavy bombardment. Aiman's old wounds did not deter him as he fought alongside Farid and the others. When they finally reached the Argivian trench, they found it abandoned, its soldiers having fled the front to avoid being killed in the brutal battle. Amid the wreckage, Farid discovered a small token of gratitude from Laria of the Argivian soldiers: a piece of chocolate and a note written in Fallaji script.[1]
