Visara, the Dreadful, is a gorgon who resided on the plane of Dominaria during the pre-Mending era.

History

Visara was one of the champion pit fighters in the Grand Coliseum on Otaria. She possessed strange, plated wings of an unknown material that enabled her to fly.[1]

Trivia

  • Visara's name is based on the word "vision," though her original name was "Gazera" based on "gaze."[2]
  • The artwork for Visara is heavily based on Masked Gorgon with the only change requested being that she had wings made of the same shell-like material the Masked Gorgon's claw is made of.[2]
  • Visara was originally conceived as a Vampire, which was appropriate when she had the additional ability to gain +1/+1 counters for each creature she killed with her tap ability. But when R&D removed that line they believed Vampire seemed less appropriate.[2]
  • Visara is featured in the art of Unhinged’s World-Bottling Kit alongside Silvos.
