Visara, the Dreadful, is a gorgon who resided on the plane of Dominaria during the pre-Mending era.
History
Visara was one of the champion pit-fighters in the Grand Coliseum on Otaria. She possessed strange, plated wings of an unknown material that enabled her to fly.[1]
Trivia
- Visara's name is based on the word "vision," though her original name was "Gazera" based on "gaze."[2]
- The artwork for Visara is heavily based on Masked Gorgon with the only change requested being that she had wings made of the same shell-like material the Masked Gorgon's claw is made of.[2]
- Visara was originally conceived as a Vampire, which was appropriate when she had the additional ability to gain +1/+1 counters for each creature she killed with her tap ability. But when R&D removed that line they believed Vampire seemed less appropriate.[2]
- Visara is featured in the art of Unhinged’s World-Bottling Kit alongside Silvos.
