Uro is the titan of Nature's Wrath, on the plane of Theros.

History

Before the gods of Theros rose to power, the titans — horrific primal urges made flesh — roamed the mortal realm, sowing death and destruction in their wake. The mortals, powerless to defend themselves, turned to prayer in their hour of need. From this concentrated devotion, sprang forth the gods themselves. Imbued with incredible power, the gods sealed the titans away in the Underworld. Klothys, the god of fate, volunteered to act as jailer and sequestered herself in the Underworld for eternity, acting as eternal seal and ensuring the titans remained trapped.[1]

Uro is the most solitary of the titans, feeling most at home on the ocean floor. If he were to rise from beneath the waves, all ships on the sea would capsize. However, he has been sealed in the Underworld for eons.[2]

Inspiration

Uro's name seems to be inspired by Uranus (sometimes spelled Ouranos), a titan personifying the sky and one of the Greek primordial deities (albeit Uro seems to be more closely associated with the sea than with the sky). Uro may also be partially inspired by Uranus' wife Gaia, the primordial deity of the land, as well as one of their titan sons Oceanus, titan father of the river gods and Oceanids, who is speculated to be the primeval father in an alternative Greek tradition. Uro may also get its name from the titan that is said to have risen from lake Titicaca and created the sun (see Uro Islands).
