Kunoros, known as the Hound of Athreos, is the divine guardian dog serving the god Athreos on the plane of Theros. This creature is a formidable three-headed cerberus tasked with the solemn duty of protecting The Underworld, ensuring the boundary between life and death remains secure.

History

Phyrexian Invasion

As the Phyrexian Invasion of Theros neared completion, the invasive branches of the Invasion Tree penetrated deep into the very fabric of the Underworld.[1] The Phyrexian forces advanced relentlessly, compleating everything in their path, until they came face to face with Kroxa, the titan embodying the ravenous hunger of death. Kroxa consumed the invaders so completely that no trace of them remained—not even the distinctive glistening oil associated with Phyrexians. Witnessing this, Athreos decided to break Kroxa's chains, releasing the titan within the Underworld. To prevent Kroxa from escaping to the mortal world and causing widespread destruction, Athreos entrusted Kunoros with the responsibility of restraining and guiding the titan. Kunoros now acts as a vigilant warden, shepherding the paroled Kroxa along paths dictated by Athreos, directing its wrath primarily against the Phyrexian invaders while sparing other denizens of the Underworld from unnecessary harm.
