Hypatia received her training as a grange-mage within a Meletian temple dedicated to the goddess Karametra. Despite her magical education, she discovered her true purpose lay on the battlefield. Taking up sword and shield as a warrior of the Meletian army, Hypatia quickly distinguished herself by her skill and bravery in defending the city against various threats.
During a critical battle fought on a high plateau overlooking Meletis, Hypatia suffered serious injuries. As she lay wounded, she witnessed a herd of pegasus soaring above and quietly offered a prayer for aid. In response, a single pegasus descended and allowed her to mount its back, thus rescuing her from certain death. From that moment on, Hypatia and her pegasus companion formed a powerful and unbreakable bond, fighting side by side in many subsequent battles.[1]
Inspiration
The tale of Hypatia draws inspiration from Greek mythology, where the hero Bellerophon is famously known for riding a pegasus. She is likely named after the philosopher Hypatia.
