Torya Longshanks was a farmer turned soldier during the Dark Age of Terisiare on the plane of Dominaria.[1]

History

During the Dark Age, the farmer Torya Longshanks who was recruited as a soldier in a war against the goblins of the Flarg was burying her family in her burnt-out farmhouse. Her family - her father and two younger sisters Jess and Delly - were all killed by raiding goblins while Torya was away in the war. A healer showed up and bit Torya's hand, using her blood to cast a curse on king Rogan of Angremur, whose failed crusade roused the Flarg into pillaging the countryside. The healer was instantly struck by a Lightning Bolt, blowing her to bits and sealing the curse. Torya decided to enlist again, and on the way to the citadel of Angremur, she heard it was under attack from some monster. Upon reaching the city, she learned that the wound the healer gave her would not be cured until she lifted the curse cast with her blood. Rogan turned out to be far younger than Torya thought, barely a man, and had more humility and humanity in him than she'd imagined. She was assigned to be a bodyguard in his chamber. That night, the terrible monster attacked his chamber. She attacked it and scraped her hand on its rough scales. Suddenly, the attack was over, and the king was lying on the floor with blood on his back. It turned out that the curse involved Rogan changing into the monster each night, which Torya now had ended. She stayed to help the king become a good ruler, and he welcomed her gladly.[1]
