The salt flats is an area that is part of the continent of Otaria, on the plane of Dominaria.

Description

The salt flats are a stretch of former wetlands turned into marshy, salt-crusted flatlands. The land was the northern part of the Cabal Holdings, and formerly prominently featured Cabal City in a bowl-shaped indentation in the flats alongside an unnamed waterway. Beyond the salt flats lay a sparse, dying forest. While the Cabal held presence here, large predators were rare, but the flats did occasionally feature some wild beasts, and venomous snakes were a constant danger. The salt flats also featured ruined buildings, likely remnants from the Phyrexian Invasion of Dominaria.[1].

History

It was in the salt flats that Chainer met Minat, who first trained the youth in dementia casting. It was also here that Chainer, years later, found the Mirari hovering a foot above the ground inside a ruined house. It had been calling out to him, and he had heard it from Cabal City. Afterwards, Chainer's personal dementia space also prominently featured the salt flats. Chainer was able to draw on the black mana of the salt flats and use that for his dementia casting. During the Battle for the Mirari, Cabal City was destroyed and abandoned, leaving the salt flats a barren, depopulated land.[1]
