New Freedom was an underground dwarven settlement that the dwarves built after they settled on the plane of Ulgrotha after exiting through the planar portal – the Dwarven Gate – on their world.
History
The dwarven king who ruled New Freedom had a daughter who became named Irini Sengir after she was captured by the Baron. The castle built above this city was named the Castle of Morning Light. New Freedom and the castle were conquered by Baron Sengir and became Castle Sengir.
In 4500, on the eve of the Mending, Sengir, Ihsan, and a large host of vampires, went through the Dwarven Gate, leaving the plane behind. After the Mending occured, the Dwarven Gate stopped working.[1] Grandmother Sengir remained behind on the plane and helped defend it against New Phyrexia's Invasion of the Multiverse.[2]
