The Basalt Spire was an ancient tower located deep within the desolate wastes of the Dead Zone on the plane of Ulgrotha. Although its original builders and purpose are long forgotten, the tower became infamous for harboring the planeswalker Ravi, who sought its protection after unleashing the destructive power of the Apocalypse Chime.

History

During the catastrophic era of the Tolgath, the planeswalker Ravi sought refuge within this dark and lonely spire, believing its sturdy stone walls could shield her from the devastation unleashed by her activation of the Apocalypse Chime. For countless generations, Ravi remained trapped within the tower's cold, crumbling stones until she was eventually discovered and freed by Baron Sengir.

Once a solitary landmark rising starkly from the Dead Zone's barren landscape, the Basalt Spire stood as both prison and sanctuary for Ravi. Over the centuries, the relentless forces of decay and time reduced the Spire to rubble, burying Ravi beneath the remains. It remains unclear how Baron Sengir was able to venture so deep into the Dead Zone — an area inhospitable to all life — and retrieve Ravi, but it is believed he used some form of protection or countermeasure against the lingering effects of the apocalypse that still tainted the land.
