The Mind Stone was an artifact, a piece of the Legacy.
Description
The Mind Stone was said to have come from a lost Icatian tomb. It was made of a mineral, and when it was mounted on a metal frame, it could be used to power one or two smaller artifacts.[1]
History
When Vuel stole the artifacts of the Legacy from Gerrard, the Mind Stone was among the items he stole. Vuel scattered the Legacy artifacts across Dominaria to foil Gerrard, but in the following years, Sisay collected the Mind Stone and brought it aboard the Skyship Weatherlight. After the abduction of Sisay, Gerrard was brought back on board, and the Weatherlight Crew traveled to Tolaria to recruit Barrin. Instead, they were asked to bring on board Ertai, the wizard adept. As a test, Hanna asked Ertai to apply his skills on the stone, but Ertai's distaste for artifacts meant he refused. Instead, he demonstrated his magical prowess by casting an abeyance spell on it, which meant Hanna could not activate the stone.[1]
The Mind Stone then went with the Weatherlight to Rath, where it was boarded by Greven il-Vec. Greven defeated Gerrard and took the legacy artifacts from the ship's hold, bringing them to the storage in Volrath's Stronghold.[1]
At the end of the Phyrexian Invasion, the Legacy merged with Karn. All of its powerful parts, including the Mind Stone, united and gave Karn knowledge and power beyond other planeswalkers.
