Dionus is a character who was originally mentioned in Magic 2010 and a few other core sets before later debuted as his card in Foundations Jumpstart as part of the Green Elves deck. He is a dominarian elvish archdruid likely from Yavimaya. Dionus was originally thought to be a Shandalarian character, as he is quoted across Magic 2010 and Magic 2014 flavor texts, including a card depicting a Shandalarian sliver. His card in Foundations Jumpstart, however, explicitly mentions magnigoth trees, native to Dominaria, as well as referencing the Ice Age, Flood Ages, and Phyrexian Invasion of Dominaria.
