The Chrimeric Sphere was an artifact, a piece of the Legacy.
Description
The Chimeric Sphere was a ball of metal strips with gears and springs in the middle. Its shape could be shifted into different configurations, one larger without wings and one smaller with wings.[1]
History
When Vuel stole the artifacts of the Legacy from Gerrard, the Chimeric Sphere was among the items he stole. Vuel scattered the Legacy artifacts across Dominaria to foil Gerrard, but in the following years, Sisay collected the Chimeric Sphere and brought it aboard the Skyship Weatherlight. After the abduction of Sisay, Gerrard was brought back on board, and the Weatherlight Crew traveled to Tolaria to recruit Barrin. Instead, they were asked to bring on board Ertai, the wizard adept. As a test, Hanna asked Ertai to apply his skills on the sphere, but Ertai's distaste for artifacts meant he refused, instead casting his abeyance spell on it, which meant Hanna could not activate it. However, when a fog elemental formed from the pendrell mists attacked them, Ertai ended his abeyance spell and activated the sphere, throwing it in the parth of the elemental. Though the fog elemental destroyed the sphere, it was distracted long enough that it faded away harmlessly. Hanna spent the next few days angrily repairing the sphere.[1]
The Chimeric Sphere then went with the Weatherlight to Rath, where it was boarded by Greven il-Vec. Greven defeated Gerrard and took the legacy artifacts from the ship's hold, bringing them to the storage in Volrath's Stronghold.[1]
At the end of the Phyrexian Invasion, the Legacy merged with Karn. All of its powerful parts, including the Chimeric Sphere, united and gave Karn knowledge and power beyond other planeswalkers.
