Bhedum Sooviij, better known by the Common translation of their name, Rampart, is a first-year Lorehold student at Strixhaven University. A tactical historian and seasoned strategist, Rampart is a member of both the Dragonchess Club and the Dragonsguard Historical Society, where they indulge their passions for battlefield analysis and historical scholarship.
Description
Rampart is a loxodon known for having a calm demeanor, encyclopedic knowledge of military history, and formidable presence. Their birth name, Bhedum Sooviij, is difficult to pronounce without a trunk, prompting them to adopt the nickname "Rampart" — a term they feel captures their steadfast and fortified nature.
They can often be found buried in texts chronicling ancient wars and tactical decisions, drawing parallels between academic study and real-life application. Rampart wears centuries-old, gilded plate armor to all their classes, accompanied by an enormous ceremonial sword, explaining that the gear helps simulate battlefield conditions for more immersive study.
Despite their intimidating appearance, Rampart is courteous and humble, especially at the Dragonchess Club, where their consistent victories are matched by their sportsmanship. They are also a fixture at late-night sessions of the Dragonsguard Historical Society, where they eagerly debate and dissect key moments in historical conflicts.
Rampart's imposing demeanor and disciplined aura have a way of influencing those around them. When Rampart's friends need to avoid the scrutiny of campus security, Rampart's reputation alone often ensures they receive help lying low. However, some have noticed a strange pattern — library books, especially those on historical topics, tend to vanish at the exact moment they're most needed, leading to whispers that Rampart might be quietly shaping who gets to study history... and who doesn't.[1]
