The Attack on Crovax's Estate was an event that took place on Urborg in 4201 AR.
Description
Taking place in Urborg, the assault on the estate of Crovax was orchestrated by the dark forces of Rath, led by the monstrous horrors Morinfen and Gallowbraid, under the shadowy command of Volrath.
Crovax was a nobleman of Urborg, tormented by a family curse and bound to the guardian angel Selenia through an enchanted heirloom. On the eve of the attack, Crovax, aboard the Skyship Weatherlight, attempted to free Selenia from her bondage, believing he could sever their connection and win her love by destroying the artifact that tethered her. Unbeknownst to him, his father had crafted a second relic, binding Selenia anew and drawing her unwillingly back to Urborg at the height of the assault.
As Volrath’s horrors descended upon the manor, the crew of the Weatherlight — led by Sisay — rushed to bring Crovax to his home, where they joined the battle. In the fierce battle that followed, Rofellos was slain by Gallowbraid, a loss that devastated Gerrard and sowed the seeds of division among the crew. Crovax's father and his brother Jolav were also slain, but Crovax located the ring that his father had used to bind Selenia anew.
In desperation, Crovax summoned Selenia once more, commanding her to repel the attackers despite her plea to be released from servitude. Selenia fought valiantly, scattering the Rathi invaders and killing Morinfen and Gallowbraid, but her freedom came at a terrible price. Upon destroying the summoning crystal following the battle, Crovax inadvertently cast Selenia back into Rath, her final words echoing her torment: "Another claims me, Crovax. I am not free. I was never free."
The aftermath of the attack left deep scars. Grieving Rofellos’s death and enraged at the revelation that the assault had been meant to draw himself out — not Crovax — Gerrard abandoned the Weatherlight and the Legacy quest, feeling betrayed by those who had manipulated his path. His departure fractured the crew; Hanna, his beloved, was left heartbroken, and Tahngarth felt vindicated in his distrust of Gerrard’s leadership.
For Crovax, the battle marked the beginning of a darker descent — haunted by guilt, grief, and his unending obsession with the angel he could never truly free.
