In addition to Mark Chalice and Scott Johns' 6-0 decks below, Henry Stern was undefeated in the Standard Swiss rounds with his Necro-deck.
Booster Draft
Mark Chalice was undefeated on the Day 1 Fourth Edition / Homelands draft with a deck.[1]
“ | America's Mark Chalice came out on top with a perfect 6-0 match record. Drafting a Disintegrate as his first pick in the first pack and having two more passed to him in the second pack didn't hurt.[1] | ” |

Type II (Standard)
Erno Ekebom
Finn Erno Ekebom had a 5-1 record in the Day two Type II rounds. He played a more aggressive version of a control deck, utilising the white "Pump-Knights" and a sideboard heavily focused on beating black decks. Ekebom finished 5th on the day, and 13th overall.
Classic Restricted
Scott Johns
American Scott Johns was undefeated in the six rounds of Classic Restricted (Type 1.5), which were held on Day 3 of Worlds. He played an aggressive deck which he named Star Spangled Slaughter.[2][3][4]
“ | The expected deck to beat for me was a variation on Black Juzam/Hymn/Pump Knight beatings. Because of this, pro-black got priority over Lion #4, which I didn’t expect to be great against black. The one Binding Grasp was because I didn’t have enough blue to support another Control Magic. Arcane Denials were specifically in as an answer to Moat, as that single card seemed to be control’s only chance against this deck, and three Arcanes and four Disenchants make that a non-issue.
Perhaps the biggest story of the deck was the sideboard, which included three Martyrdom, a last-minute brainstorm that allowed me a superb way of smashing through the popular StormDrain deck at the event (Storm Cauldron/Fastbond/Drain Life) Drain me? Nah, Drain the Lion for twenty, which gives you one, so you die :). Martyrdom single-handedly powered me by two StormDrain decks and also a heavy burn deck dubbed ‘The Gun.’ At the critical turn, I was able to redirect all his burn to one of my lions instead of it being aimed directly at my head for the win.[3] |

Olle Råde
Olle Råde is known to have played a deck known as The Gun[5] in the Classic Restricted portion of the event.[3] He finished in 5th place with a record of 5-1; his only match loss being Scott Johns.[6]
“ | If I remember correctly, in six rounds I believe I beat two StormDrains, two The Guns (including Olle Rade, who I got to Fireball for two for the win, even though he had ‘Geddon in hand :), and two Juzam/Hymn/PumpKnight decks.” | ” |
Råde placed Top 8 with a similar deck, now known as PT Jank, in the Extended format of Pro Tour Chicago in 1997[7] and Pro Tour Rome in 1998[8].
“ | Jank: (also “PT Jank” or “Pro Tour Jank’; also the “Richmond Gun”) This is an Extended white weenie deck that uses Tithe and dual lands to splash other colors. Jank almost always runs red for Lightning Bolt, but the rest of the deck often shows a lot of variation.[9] | ” |
