Taniwha (tah-nee-wah[a]) is a legendary horned serpent that prowled the oceans of Jamuraa during the Mirage War.

Description

Taniwha is an enormous horned serpent. Its body is long and sinuous, covered in rough, green scales that gleam in the sunlight.[2] The scales are jagged and appear almost armor-like. Taniwha's head is a fearsome visage characterized by sharp, menacing teeth and a long, pointed horn protruding from its forehead. The creature's eyes glow a fiery red, exuding an aura of ancient power and ferocity.

In Jamuraa, Taniwha is regarded as a being whose movements can shape the tides and alter the landscape.[2] "Poetics of Hanan" includes a verse about Taniwha's power.

Taniwha was alive in Jamuraa during the Mirage War in 4195. As the legendary serpent's mortality and presence in Zhalfir when Teferi Akosa phased the land out is unknown, it might still be alive in Jamuraa's oceans or Zhalfir's sea.
