The Sonic Superdrop is a superdrop in the Secret Lair product range and a continuation of the alternate art Secret Lair Drop Series. It became available for purchase from the Wizards of the Coast webshop secretlair.wizards.com on July 14, 2025.[2] A limited number of non-foil Friends & Foes drops will become available via WPN stores on August 21, 2025.[3]

Description

This superdrop contains three Universes Beyond Sonic the Hedgehog-themed drops. Sonic the Hedgehog is a Japanese video game series and media franchise created for Sega in 1991. The franchise follows Sonic, an anthropomorphic blue hedgehog who can run at supersonic speed. He battles the evil Doctor Eggman, a mad scientist, and his robot army. The main Sonic the Hedgehog games are platformers mostly developed by Sonic Team; other games, developed by various studios, include spin-offs in the racing, fighting, party game, and sports game genres. The franchise also incorporates printed media, animations, films, and merchandise.

This superdrop includes artwork by three artists illustrating for the game for the first time: Tracey Yardley, Evan Stanley, and Nathalie Fourdraine. All three artists are well known for their contributions to the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series.

The Friends & Foes drop includes seven new-to-Magic cards. These cards are legal in Commander, Legacy, and Vintage. Non-foil versions of this drop will become available for purchase in WPN game stores on August 21, 2025.[2]

This superdrop introduces the Hedgehog and Echidna creature types.

To fight scalping, Wizards of the Coast limited buyers to two purchases per item type (foil, non-foil, and bundles).[4]
