February 5	Release of Kaldheim. Surprise appearance Vorinclex, Monstrous Raider (the first card ever to feature the Phyrexian creature type).
February 12	Release of Secret Lair Drop Series: Smitten
February 22	Release of Secret Lair Drop Series: Black is Magic.
February 25	Announcement of a new class of product: Universes Beyond, which will take outside IP's and bring them into Magic.
March 11	Historic Anthology IV becomes available on MTG Arena.
March 15	Release of the Kaldheim wave of Magic the Gathering Unpainted Miniatures by WizKids.
March 19	Release of Time Spiral Remastered.
March 23	Launch of the PC Open Beta for Magic: Legends. A free-to-play ARPG created as a collaboration between Wizards of the Coast, Cryptic Studios
March 25	MTG Arena adds support for iOs (tablets and iPhones).
March 28	Kaldheim Championship Won by Challenger Arne Huschenbeth.
April 1	Nic Kelman, controversial Director of Entertainment Development, leaves Wizards of the Coast.
April 2	Release of Challenger Decks 2021
April 7	First publication of the ongoing Magic comic by BOOM! Studios. The comic is non-canon.
April 23	Release of Strixhaven: School of Mages. Accompanied by the Mystical Archive, a non-Standard set of 63 reprinted instants and sorceries that appear in the boosters of the main set. Also accompanied by Commander 2021
April 26	Release of Secret Lair Drop Series: Dr. Lair's Secretorium Superdrop
May 7	Release of Secret Lair: Ultimate Edition 2.
May 13	Magic esports announces that the MPL and the Rivals League will be retired after the 2021–22 Players Tour Season. Pro Players are told that they should not consider Magic professionally moving forward.
May 14	Official retirement of Planeswalker decks, which are being replaced by Commander decks going forward.
May 27	Release of Historic Anthology V on MTG Arena.
June 6	Strixhaven Championship Won by Sam Pardee.
June 18	Release of Modern Horizons 2. First supplemental set to feature Set Boosters and Collector Boosters.
June 21	Release of Secret Lair Drop Series: All-Natural, Totally Refreshing Superdrop
July 1	Development of Pioneer Masters is put on hold for an unspecified time.
June 29	Barely four months after its Open Beta launch, the videogame Magic: Legends is announced to be terminated.
July 23	Release of Dungeons & Dragons: Adventures in the Forgotten Realms. A non-canon Dungeons & Dragons crossover set. Replaces the Core Set 2022.
July 28	Release of the Strixhaven: School of Mages wave of Magic the Gathering Unpainted Miniatures by WizKids.
August 6	Release of the 2021 Arena Starter Kit. Also release of the Adventures in the Forgotten Realms Gift Edition Bundle.

December 2	MTG Arena introduces Alchemy, a digital-only format. Extends Standard by adding rebalanced cards and designed-for-digital cards. Also used in Historic.
December 5	Innistrad Championship Won by Yuuki Ichikawa.
December 9	Release of Alchemy: Innistrad on MTG Arena.
December 23	Daybreak Games acquires the license to develop, provide live service and publish Magic Online.
