Description
The Rose Stage is a popular outdoor performance space on the Silverquill campus of Strixhaven University. The stage consists of a rotating circular platform framed by a magical rose backdrop formed from enchanted ink tributes left by spectators over the years. These roses enhance the venue's acoustics, making it a favored location for performances, sparring matches, and honor duels between mage-students. Professors and faculty often watch from the sidelines, providing critique and coaching.[1]
The Rose Stage features benches for spectators, a sunken orchestra pit, and a large oval main stage decorated with a massive rose emblem. Behind the stage is an enclosed annex building containing dressing rooms, storage halls, and prop rooms. The entire venue is open to any course or group on campus, though the Playactors Drama Guild is its most frequent user, hosting rehearsals, performances, and festivals.
Every year, the Rose Stage hosts the Rose Stage Festival, a campus-wide celebration blending performing arts and improvisation. The Playactors Drama Guild distributes random prompts to performers, and anyone may take the stage to act them out however they wish. Music is often provided by members of the Strixhaven Show Band Association, who sometimes hand out kazoos to spectators for spontaneous accompaniment. The festival's improvised play goes on until every volunteer has run through their prompts, though more often it ends when a faculty member steps in to shut it down, as the event tends to grow increasingly rowdy as the night wears on.
