The Prodigal Sorcerers |
Kellan Boldt is a Prodigal Sorcerer, once son and heir to the Duchy of Kelsh on the plane of Dominaria. [1]
History
In his youth, Kellan was apprenticed to Archmage Ghavos and was trained in the use of a sextant as a focus. After some years of theoretical learning under Ghavos, he was accepted to study at the Tolarian Academy on Tolaria West. However, his ship was assailed by pirates during the voyage. Kellan's theoretical training was not enough to defeat the pirates, who killed off most of the crew on Kellan's ship. In the end, Kellan and the ship-mage Enthril managed to keep the pursuing pirates at bay long enough for the remnants of their ship to cross the Perimeter of the Dire Waves, a deadly storm-tossed area of the sea. This caused the pirates to abandon their chase.
Soon after, two sorcerers were attacked by a giant kraken, a Scourge of Fleets, which smashed the remains of their ship. A badly wounded Enthril cast a chaotic Eternal Domonion spell that warped the sails and broken wood of their ship into a hot-air balloon. This enabled Kellan alone to float away from the monster, while Enthril the ship-mage disappeared completely.
The balloon was headed for the Spice Isles, where the Tolarian Academy was located, but Kellan let the course of the balloon change and headed past the school and into the unknown. He was ready for more field experience - to face a new purpose, to find a new adventure, and to know the heart of the world.
