Gerrard's hourglass pendant was a piece of the Legacy that Gerrard Capashen wore around his neck.[1]
Description
Gerrard's Hourglass Pendant was a tiny hourglass with sand inside, mounted in a metal housing with hoops on either end. Through one hoop, Gerrard had pulled a thin metal chain, enabling him to wear the artifact as a neckpiece. The pendant's mounting also enabled the hourglass to be flipped at will, to run its sands down its lower half while the chain remained attached around Gerrard's neck.[2]
History
Although Vuel stole the artifacts of the Legacy from him, he never put his hands on the Hourglass Pendant since Gerrard wore it around his neck. Gerrard carried it with him to Benalia City, where he worked as a Master of Arms for a few years. After the abduction of Sisay, Gerrard was approached by Tahngarth and the remaining Weatherlight Crew to rejoin them and rescue Sisay. After foiling an infiltration plot among the officers of the Benalish army, Gerrard agreed to board the Skyship Weatherlight and join the crew in their search. Later, he commented that he had left his hourglass pendant behind in Benalia City, where it remained for some time.[2]
At the end of the Phyrexian Invasion, The Legacy merged with Karn. All of its powerful parts, including the pendant, united and gave Karn knowledge and power beyond other planeswalkers.
Trivia
- In the unpublished original version of the Weatherlight Saga, the pendant let the wearer eradicate one event from the past to change the world as though it never happened.[3][4]
