The Coral Helm was an artifact that was fished out of the water running from Ronom Glacier by Yumok fishermen before or during the Brothers' War.
History
Already ancient by that time, the artifact was sent to Feldon in Terisia City during the Brothers' War to be studied by its scholars and artificers.[1]
The artifact was among those which were smuggled to safety during the Fall of Terisia City, and eventually made its way to the Conclave of Mages during the Dark Age. From there, it was picked up by the Rag Man on his mission to recruit Jodah. The Rag Man traded the helm to a pod of merfolk in trade for Jodah's life after he was cast from his ship during a storm.[2]
2500 years later, in the first years of the Thaw, a wandering member of the School of the Unseen wrote a letter to the college's Archmage Emeritus Jodah, stating that the long-lost Coral Helm had been found.[3]
More than 1100 years after that, in 4077 AR, the Coral Helm had fallen into the posession of Greensleeves's magic students, who theorized that it might have belonged to an aquatic god at one point.[4]
