The Vault Heist Theft of Maha's Egg Duskmourn Rescue Mission

The Theft of Maha's Egg was an event that happened on the plane of Bloomburrow in 4564 AR. The theft of the egg of the Great Night Owl Maha was done by the weaselfolk mercenary Cruelclaw, acting on the orders of King Glarb of Fountainport. The incident triggered a rampage by the Calamity Beasts across Valley until the egg was recovered by Mabel and returned to Maha.[1]

Description

In late spring of c. 4564 AR, nearly two years after the New Phyrexian Invasion,[2][3] King Glarb, plagued by prophetic dreams of Valley’s destruction, hired Cruelclaw to steal Maha’s egg in the hope of raising the infant Calamity Beast as a guardian of the realm.[4][5]

The theft provoked an unprecedented rampage from Maha and other Calamity Beasts, leading to the destruction of Pondside and widespread chaos.[2][6] Around the same time, Ral Zarek arrived on Bloomburrow following Jace Beleren’s aether trail and encountered Mabel and her companions in Three Trees City.[7] Learning of the Calamity Beasts’ attacks, the party decided to travel to Fountainport to consult Glarb.

Upon their arrival, Glarb revealed his role in the crisis and summoned Cruelclaw to eliminate them. The confrontation was interrupted by the arrival of Maha, who began battling the Dragonhawk. Mabel was able to calm Maha by returning its egg, after which the Great Night Owl ceased its rampage and departed peacefully.[4] Glarb and Cruelclaw both escaped the city in the aftermath, with Fountainport’s officials pledging to investigate.[5]
