Aerona[1] is the main continent of the Domains in Dominaria's northern hemisphere. It was the site of many of the early HarperPrism stories and featured prominently in The Weatherlight Saga as well. It derives its name from an ancient fertility goddess who, according to legend, sacrificed herself to let people take crops from her body.[2]

Locations on Aerona

North Aerona

North Aerona is the part of the continent that lies north of Hurloon. The climate in the northernmost part of Aerona is similar to that of the nearby island of Icehaven.

South Aerona

The largest part of the landmass of Aerona lies south of the narrower isthmus near Hurloon.

The seas around Aerona

  • Andrion Bay - the bay south of the peninsula upon which Benalia City is located. It is named after Benalia's legendary founder, Tobias Andrion.
  • The Flowing Seas - the seas between southern Aerona and nearby islands.[9]
  • Honeyed Sea - the sea to the south of Aerona[7]
  • The Rip - the strait that separates Aerona from Icehaven in the northwest
  • Sea of Avenant - the sea between Benalia and Avenant
  • Sea of Fire - the sea to the west of North Aerona. It derives its name from the glorious sunsets which reflect on its waters.[2]
  • Sea of Whales - the sea to the east of North Aerona[2]
  • Visceral Sea - the sea to the west of South Aerona

Trivia

  • There is also an Elder Druid named Aerona as seen on the card Reincarnation, although their relationship with the continent, if any, is unknown.
