Historic Anthology is a series of releases exclusive to Magic Arena. Cards released via a Historic Anthology become legal in the Historic format. Each release is available to purchase as a whole in the Arena store for a limited time, after which the cards are only available through crafting wildcards.

I

The first Historic Anthology (set code: AHA1) added 20 new cards to MTG Arena on November 21, 2019. The cards were meant to expand the format in interesting ways.[2] Some were nostalgia plays, some were fun build-around cards to enable new archetypes, and some were powerful new tools.[3]. Set

Later addition

  • Rhys the Redeemed was added for play in both Brawl and Historic on December 12, 2019, in celebration of the Brawlidays event.[4]

II

Historic Anthology II (set code: AHA2) added 25 new cards to MTG Arena on March 12, 2020.[5] Among those 25 new cards was the powerful two-drop Thalia, Guardian of Thraben. On the same day that Thalia joined Historic, players could order the special Secret Lair Drop Series: Thalia - Beyond the Helvault.

III

Historic Anthology III (set code: AHA3) added 27 new cards to MTG Arena on May 21, 2020.[6][7]

IV

Historic Anthology IV (set code: AHA4) added 25 new cards to MTG Arena on March 11, 2021.[8][9] This was some weeks before the Kaldheim Championship, in which the players would compete with the updated Historic format.

5

Historic Anthology 5 (set code: AHA5) added 25 new cards to MTG Arena on May 27, 2021.[10][11]

6

Historic Anthology 6 (set code: AHA6) was released on July 28, 2022, and added 20 new cards to MTG Arena.[12][13][14]

7

Historic Anthology 7 (set code: AHA7) was available from July 18 until October 10, 2023, and added 25 new cards to MTG Arena.[15]
