History
By the time he met Aylith, Feryar was hundreds of years old. Following the prophetic words of his wife Thrissa, they both traveled to Inys Nohr following the Parting to wait for the Mender. Although he was an intelligent shapeshifter capable of transforming into a powerful owl, he pretended to be dim-witted for centuries at court to escape scrutiny. For this reason, he was known as "the Fool". He served the many Felonarchs in their short, brutal, insanity-riddled lives. The worst of it came when Felonarch Crephas raped Thrissa. Feryar wanted to kill him but was stopped by his wife. She eventually gave birth to Nazir, who would be the next Felonarch upon Crephas's death. Unable to remain at Inys Nohr, Thrissa left the child and her husband at court and returned to Loch Prith. Feryar finally received the Mender almost 30 years later when she arrived at Inys Nohr in the form of the young woman Aylith. Imprisoned in Felonarch Nazir's tower, Aylith was given the acorn from the severed branch by Feryar, and he carried her away from the town in his owl form. Feryar brought Aylith to his home of Loch Prith, where she met with his wife Thrissa and the three Gwylfan. He also intervened to save Arn from death in the icy marshes, ensuring that the Far Clans could unite against Nazir. When Malvos attempted to use Soulslayer, Feryar was present, watching as the enchanted weapon turned against him. After the Mending of the Clan Tree, Feryar extended an invitation to the mirkalbion to live in Loch Prith, offering them refuge in the eternal twilight of the underground sanctuary.[1]
