Haen was the Keeper of the Clan Tree of Cridhe during the Parting.[1]

Description

As a Keeper, Haen was able to use the green mana of the Clan Tree of Cridhe. This granted him the Sight, giving him prophetic visions and using those to guide his village. He was tan with brown skin and a mop of light hair. His brown hands were gnarled like the tree's bark. The tree granted Haen the Seeing, a series of visions that always came true, even if they were sometimes hard to interpret.[1]

History

One night when Nohr had been served a heavy drink and given the magical sword Soulslayer by the stranger Malvos, Nohr swore to break the tree to gain planeswalkerhood. Despite Haen's heavy protesting, Nohr split the tree, causing Haen to fall out of its branches to the ground, knocking the wind from him. The breaking of the tree caused the Parting, a cataclysmic event that marked the downfall of Cridhe’s natural order and the fragmentation of its people. Instead of opening a path to another plane, Nohr’s magic disrupted the Clan Tree’s life force, killing it and shattering its stability. This act fulfilled an ancient curse laid by Cridhe’s creator-god, the Maker: the land split in two, physically and spiritually dividing the people of the plane. Haen then became known as the First, a Keeper without a tree to keep, and his line would stay on one side of the chasm, each generation with its own Keeper. Inys Haen was named in honor of Haen the First. Haen himself slept, barely breathing, seemingly frozen in time, wounded in Nohr’s attack on the Tree. The only sign Haen's body saw time passing was that his brows gradually turned white like gull wings. After three months, Haen woke up and had a fire in his fingers, and used this to call the light and reawaken the remnants of the Clan Tree. The secret of calling the light from the sky and giving the plants their Memories was passed from Keeper to Keeper in Haen's line.[1]
