Inys Nohr is a settlement on Cridhe located in the northeastern coastal region.
Description
Inys Nohr was a fortress town located on the north side of the River Sobus, near the shore of an inlet of the Sea of Sorrows. The Tower at Inys Nohr was built inside a circular wall with a single gate, surrounded by a moat. In the hills to the north, the Nohrians had built mines, and these hills were also the site of the Albion Colony. The town itself was located outside the wall, and fisherfolk lived on the shores of the river. However, after the Mending of the Clan Tree, during which the tower was destroyed by Albion sappers, the Albion colony was disbanded, and the mirkalbions moved to Loch Prith. Inys Nohr then prospered and grew into the largest city on the plane.[1]
History
Founded by Nohr and his followers after the Parting, Inys Nohr became an isolated and bitter stronghold, cursed with perpetual winter after the destruction of the Clan Tree of Cridhe. For centuries, the city was ruled by a line of Felonarchs, whose bloodline carried both madness and a wound that mirrored Nohr’s fateful injury. Under their reign, the city fell into decay, sustained only by harsh rule, alchemy, and the labor of the mirkalbion, outcasts mutated by their dependence on the ardre fungus.
In an attempt to restore warmth to Nohrish's lands, Felonarch Nazir launched a raid on Inys Haen, seeking to force the Keeper to perform the Awakening ritual. The mission ended in disaster — Nazir's forces returned only with the Keeper's daughter, Aylith, while internal conflict led to the death of Nazir's kinsman Thix and the disgrace of his commander RoNal. Within Inys Nohr, political unrest mounted as famine and disease spread, culminating in an uprising of the city’s impoverished populace and enslaved mirkalbion. Nazir and his forces abandoned it, seeking to complete his mission, and while he was away, the mirkalbion revolt caused the Tower at Inys Nohr to collapse.
With Nazir’s departure and the Felonarch’s line broken, Inys Nohr teetered on the brink of collapse. However, after the Mending of the Clan Tree, the land thawed for the first time in generations, bringing fertile soil, flowing rivers, and new opportunities. The city was rebuilt, no longer a fortress of shadows but a thriving center of trade, culture, and governance. Over centuries, it grew into the largest city on Cridhe, a beacon of resilience and transformation, where the scars of the past gave way to a prosperous future.[1]
