"When the fate of the Multiverse is at stake, what game will the scheming Master of Metal play? Tezzeret of Esper, the cruel artificer now free from his former master Nicol Bolas, the God-Pharaoh of Amonkhet, has traveled across the Multiverse seeking the answer to a question only he knows. Once he finds it, he will manipulate anyone necessary and do whatever it takes to claim his prize… but to what end?"

Story

Axis

In his study on Ravnica, Tezzeret muses to his construct attendant how his insignificance and his hunger for power set him apart from the other planeswalkers. Meanwhile, the attendant plants a metallic shard tainted with magic in Tezzeret's eye.

Right hand of God

Tezzeret visits a tavern where he meets a doctor recently barred from the Simic guild. The doctor removes the shard from Tezzeret's eye, and the magic in the shard causes the doctor to find the guildless Hall of the Hospitaliers of the Frozen Heart. The doctor becomes the hospital's abbot.

That which is mine

Tezzeret ambushes would-be assassins of Jace Beleren, threatening them if they should try to kill Jace.

A lover of things

Tezzeret visits the Strixhaven library, where he feigns interest in a book about Marit Lage. Liliana Vess takes his bait, and she puzzles over what he plans to learn from the book.
