Assault on Rath Revolution on Mercadia Crovax's Coronation

The Revolution on Mercadia was an event that took place on the plane of Mercadia in 4205 AR, after the Skyship Weatherlight crash-landed on the plane following the assault on Rath.

Description

Following their escape from Rath, the Skyship Weatherlight emerged from a planar portal and crash-landed on an unfamiliar world — Mercadia. Mistaken for the legendary deity Ramos, the crew quickly found themselves entangled in local conflicts. The Cho-Arrim, a reclusive forest-dwelling people, seized the ship along with Orim, while the rest of the crew was captured by the ruling Mercadians and taken to their inverted mountain city.

After escaping captivity, Gerrard Capashen and his companions gained a reputation as "giant killers" and used this notoriety to negotiate with Mercadia City’s Chief Magistrate. In exchange for military support to reclaim the Weatherlight, Gerrard agreed to train the city’s forces. However, unbeknownst to him, Orim had allied with Cho-Manno, the leader of the Cho-Arrim. This fragile arrangement collapsed when the hired Cateran mercenaries began slaughtering the Cho-Arrim, straining the unity of the Weatherlight crew. Worse still, the Mercadians and Caterans betrayed them, capturing the Weatherlight and imprisoning the crew once more.

The crew’s second escape attempt failed, leading to Gerrard, Karn, and Tahngarth remaining in captivity. With these hostages, the Mercadians forced Hanna, Sisay, and Orim to retrieve the fabled Power Matrix from the island city of Saprazzo. However, the Mercadians betrayed them again, stealing the artifact and murdering its guardians while attempting to frame Orim. Fortunately, the Saprazzans, gifted with telepathy, saw through the deception, leading to an unexpected reunion — Cho-Manno had survived the attack on Rushwood and allied himself with Lahaime, leader of the Ramosian rebels. With their forces united, the Saprazzans, the Cho-Arrim, and the Ramosians joined the Weatherlight crew to overthrow the Mercadian regime.

Meanwhile, in Mercadia City, Gerrard and his imprisoned allies were starting to gain awareness of a shocking truth: Takara, their companion from Rath, was none other than Volrath in disguise. Having ruled Mercadia from the shadows, Volrath executed Takara's father Starke il-Vec in vengeance for his past betrayals.

In pursuit of the Power Matrix’s missing components, some of the Weatherlight crew ventured to the Henge of Ramos, battling ghouls and dryads on the way to confronting Ramos himself. A legendary dragon engine reprogrammed by Urza, Ramos had transported the ancestors of the Cho-Arrim, Saprazzans, and Rishadans to Mercadia. Initially reluctant to intervene, Ramos was swayed by Gerrard’s resolve and the pleas of the dryads. However, upon relinquishing the five powerstones necessary for the Matrix, Volrath — still masquerading as Takara — stole them and returned to Mercadia City.

While these events unfolded, Hanna, Karn, and Squee had remained in Mercadia under Volrath’s control, forced to repair the Weatherlight under the threat of Squee’s execution. Just as the situation worsened, the revolutionary forces launched their attack, spurred on by Orim, Cho-Manno, and the farm boy Atalla. Just as repairs on the ship were completed, the revolution reached its climax as Gerrard, Sisay, and Tahngarth discovered the Subterranean Hangar underneath Mercadia City. The combined rebel forces stormed the hangar, where they destroyed the Phyrexian fleet assembled in preparation for the coming invasion of Dominaria. The Weatherlight was reclaimed, and the final battle against Volrath’s flagship ensued. In a dramatic aerial duel, the crew shot down Volrath’s vessel, though the shapeshifter himself managed to escape via a planar portal.

With the Chief Magistrate dead and the Kyren rulers exiled, the revolution ushered in a new era of governance. The Cho-Arrim, Rishadans, Saprazzans, and liberated Mercadians formed a united government, seeking peace and equality. Ramos, now recognized as their true protector, vowed to guide his people.

The Weatherlight, now empowered with the Power Matrix of Saprazzo, the Bones of Ramos, and the Juju Bubble installed on its plane-shifting crystal, departed Mercadia. Gerrard, having embraced his role as a leader and savior, led his crew back to Dominaria, fully aware that the looming Phyrexian Invasion awaited them.

The Revolution of Mercadia marked a turning point in the struggle against Phyrexia, demonstrating the power of unity against tyranny and setting the stage for the final confrontation between the Weatherlight crew and the forces of Yawgmoth.[1]
