Portal Canyon was the part of Rath where the Erratic Portal stood.
Description
Portal Canyon was a narrow cleft in the flowstone landscape where the Erratic Portal stood. It lay on the plains a ways off from the Stronghold.
History
In 4205 AR, the Skyship Weatherlight came to Portal Canyon and let Ertai and Orim examine it. Ertai was tasked with activating the portal while Orin rejoined the crew to travel to the Stronghold. While examining the portal, Ertai encountered the soltari Lyna, who agreed to assist him in return for letting her people through the portal. After activating the portal and letting the Soltari pass through it, Ertai climbed to the top of the portal so that he could drop to the deck of the Weatherlight when it reappeared.[1]
However, the Weatherlight had been fitted with the Skyshaper, a piece of the Legacy that boosted its speed tremendously. Chased by the Predator, the ship zoomed through the portal, and the portal was closed by Urza. When Ertai dropped, he instead landed in the rigging of the Predator, and immediately afterwards, the Predator crashed into the portal's pillars.[2]
During the Rathi Overlay, Portal Canyon shifted to Dominaria, but it is not known where it ended up or if it was destroyed in the process.
