Description

Expansion symbol

Unlike the comparable sets in previous years and timeframes, these Commander Decks are not branded as Commander 2022 (C22).[2] This is because all sets now feature Commander decks.[3]

There are 85 new cards (with printed set code NCC and collector numbers #001/093 to #085/093) printed in the Streets of New Capenna Commander Decks. These cards are legal for play in the Commander, Vintage, and Legacy formats. They aren't legal for play in the Standard, Pioneer, or Modern formats. Eight additional cards with the NCC code (#086/093 to 093/093) can only be found in Set and Collector Boosters. NCC #094-185 are extended-art versions of the previous cards, and #186-190 are dark frame versions of the five face cards. The other cards in these decks (with printed set code NCC and collector numbers #191-447) are legal for play in any format that already allows those cards; that is, appearing in these decks doesn't change a card's legality in any format.

The cards that only can be found in Set and Collector Boosters are:

Like with previous decks in the Commander Series, the new cards are themed to the world of the main set. Unlike previous decks in the series, some of these new cards feature mechanics from older sets that are not Evergreen nor Deciduous, similar to both Modern Horizons sets.

The reprints in these decks can be from anywhere. Five reprints feature new art (three of them with new flavor text): Artifact Mutation, Aura Mutation, Gavony Township, Strionic Resonator, and Thunderfoot Baloth. The art Dusk // Dawn is featured on paper for the first time.

On April 7, 2022. Becca Scott and Joe Johnson talked to Jay Anelli and Lauren Bond about this set, showcasing their abilities and lore.
