Jalira is a human wizard from the plane of Shandalar.
Description
A skilled polymorphist, Jalira was known throughout the dangerous city of Lesh as a swindler and a con artist. She revealed that she had a warrant of execution in the city, though she managed to escape the guards by transforming them into frogs. Alongside her travel companion and fellow ne'er-do-well Yisan, Jalira traveled into the Kalonian Wilds to study the mysterious creatures known as slivers. This led to both Jalira and Yisan briefly becoming slivers themselves, though the Sliver Hivelord quickly stripped them of their new bodies. After escaping the hive with as much treasure as they could, Jalira and Yisan went their separate ways.[1]
History
Jalira and Yisan were picking pockets in the town of Lesh, when they happened upon the rambling Thunian Hastric. Seizing the opportunity to steal his stuff, Yisan and Jalira were almost getting away with it when Dexros, the commander of the guard, caught them. He forced them to return the stolen items, but Yisan kept Hastric's journal, which described the route to the Skep.
Knowing there would be riches on the corpses of those who had died in the Skep, Yisan, and Jalira embarked upon the journey there, passing the Onakke catacombs, the Kalonian Wilds, and staying away from Kapsho and its ruler, Talrand.
When they arrived at the Skep and found the sliver caves, they found themselves transformed into slivers, just like Hastric himself had been. For a while, they were part of the hivemind, a part of the Hum, which is the telepathic voice of every sliver combined. However, when a Sliver Hivelord crossed paths with them, they found themselves returning to their normal human selves, albeit without any clothes.
Yisan and Jalira found both clothes and loot from the corpses nearby, and the Sliver Hidelord appeared to allow them to do this, making no moves to attach them. They were also allowed to leave the cave and bring the loot with them, although like Hastric, they both still heard the hum. While Jalira prepared to head back to pawn off the goods, Yisan opted to skip out on his share and instead stay in the Skep to study the creatures. Thus, they parted ways, Jalira headed to Martyne, while Yisan strummed his harp to mimic the slivers' hum.
